**How It Works**

 1. Install and activate the plugin

The plugin connects to the CookieGuard service for cookie scanning. All data transmission
is initiated by the site administrator through explicit actions in the admin dashboard.

This plugin connects to the following third-party service. By using this plugin 
you agree to its terms and privacy policy.

**CookieGuard API (api.cookieguard.app)**

This plugin transmits data to the CookieGuard service in the following cases:

 * When you run a cookie scan from the admin dashboard: your site URL is sent to
   initiate a remote scan that detects cookies set by your site

All API communication is initiated by the site administrator through explicit actions
in the WordPress admin dashboard. No data is sent automatically on frontend page
loads or without administrator action.

Data sent to CookieGuard: site URL.

No visitor data, WordPress user data, passwords, or personally identifiable information
is transmitted by this plugin.

 1. Upload the plugin files to `/wp-content/plugins/cookieguard-wp`
 2. Activate the plugin through the ‚Plugins‘ screen in WordPress
 3. Go to CookieGuard in the admin menu
 4. Customize your banner in the Banner Editor
 5. Run a cookie scan to detect cookies on your site

Yes! CookieGuard provides all the necessary features for GDPR compliance including
consent collection, preference management, and consent storage with anonymized IPs.

### Do I need to create an account?

No! The WordPress plugin works without creating an account. Just install, activate,
and start customizing your banner.

Absolutely! Use the visual Banner Editor to customize colors, text, positioning,

### Does this slow down my site?

No. The banner script is extremely lightweight and loads asynchronously from our
CDN.

### Where is consent data stored?

Consent data is stored securely on CookieGuard’s servers with GDPR-compliant data
handling. IP addresses are anonymized and no personal tracking occurs.

Yes! The banner script loads dynamically and works perfectly with all major caching
plugins.
