Ich kann Deutsch als Sprache nicht einstellen

Ich habe eine WordPress-Installation auf einer Sub-Domain .
Ich habe hoffentlich alle erforderlichen Dateien in wp-content-languages:
admin-de_DE.mo
admin-network-de_DE.mo
continents-cities-de_DE.mo
admin-de_DE.po
admin-network-de_DE.po
continents-cities-de_DE.po
(Es sind die gleichen Dateien, die auch in der Haupt-Domain im Ordner Languages sind. Dort kann ich Deutsch einstellen.)
Wenn ich unter Einstellungen/Allgemein die Sprache auf Deutsch einstelle, dann wechselt diese Einstellung sofort zurück auf English/United States, sobald ich auf Speichern klicke.
