Chonotronics TagMe.mp3 adds an Edit ID3 tags button to MP3 attachments in the WordPress Media Library. Documentation and current information are available at https://wild-life-tantra.de/chonotronics-tagme-mp3/.

- Artist
- Album
- Album artist
- Year
- Track number
- Disc number
- Genre
- Composer
- Copyright
- Comment
- Embedded cover art (JPEG or PNG)
The plugin writes a new temporary file and validates it before replacing the original. MPEG audio data are copied without modification. The ID3 tag is rebuilt as ID3v2.3; unsupported custom frames are removed when the file is saved.
Chonotronics TagMe.mp3 does not send media files or metadata to external services and does not collect usage data.

Privacy
This plugin processes MP3 files locally on the WordPress server. It does not transmit files, metadata, or personal data to third parties. The optional Donate link opens an external page only when an administrator clicks it.

Installation
- Upload the plugin ZIP through Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin, or copy the
chonotronics-tagme-mp3folder to/wp-content/plugins/. - Activate Chonotronics TagMe.mp3.
- Open an MP3 attachment in the Media Library.
- Click Edit ID3 tags.

Does the plugin work with media offloading services or remote storage?

No. The MP3 file must exist locally and be writable by WordPress.

Does saving change the audio quality?

No. The MPEG audio payload is copied unchanged. Only the metadata area is rebuilt.

Are all existing ID3 frames preserved?

No. The plugin rebuilds a clean ID3v2.3 tag from the supported fields. Unsupported custom frames and old ID3v1 tags are removed.

Which languages are supported?

English is the source and fallback language. A German translation is included. Additional translations can be contributed through the WordPress.org translation platform after publication.
