Filorium – Media Library Folders & Organizer

A busy Media Library quickly turns into one long wall of images. Filorium adds folders, so you can sort your files the way you sort them on your computer and find any of them in seconds.

Your files never move. Folders are only a way of organizing. Every file stays where WordPress put it, and every link to it keeps working. Turn Filorium off and your Media Library looks exactly as it did before.

Organize your media

• Create folders, and folders inside folders.
• Drag and drop files and folders to move them.
• Cut, copy, paste, duplicate and rename, just like on your computer.
• Pick a folder when you upload, or drag a whole folder from your computer to bring it in as it is.
• Star your favorite files.
• Switch between Grid, List and Column views.
• See how many files each folder holds, with or without its subfolders.
• Preview files and edit their title, caption, description and alt text in place.
• Work together: changes made by your team show up as they happen.

Folders where you already work

Filorium also adds folders to WordPress’s own screens.

• Media Library — browse folders right beside your files.
• Media picker — pick images from folders in the block editor, classic editor, Featured Image, Customizer and widgets.
• Bulk actions — select files in the Media Library list and move them to a folder in one go.
• Show folders as a tree, as a small dropdown next to the other filters, or not at all. You can choose separately for the Media Library and the media picker, under Filorium → Settings → Media Library.

Delete with confidence

Filorium tells you when a file is still in use before you delete it.

• See where a file is used: in posts and pages, page builders, WooCommerce product galleries, your site logo and header, widgets, user profile pictures and more.
• Deleted files go to the Trash first, so you can put them back.
• Before anything is deleted for good, Filorium searches the rest of your site once more and keeps any file that still seems to be in use.
• WordPress’s automatic Trash cleanup skips files that are still in use, too.

„No known uses“ means Filorium found nothing pointing at the file. The FAQ lists exactly what it checks.

Rename and replace files

• Replace a file with a new version. It keeps its name and address, so every page that shows it gets the new version.
• Rename a file. Its address changes, so Filorium first shows you every page that uses it.

Switch from another folder plugin

Already using another media folder plugin? Filorium can bring your folders across.

• Open Filorium → Settings → Import to see what it found.
• Check the preview, then import.
• Your other plugin’s data is only read, never changed.

Keep a copy of your folders

Your folders are never locked in. Download them at any time from Filorium → Settings → Export:

• as a backup file (JSON) that Filorium can import again — on this site or another one, or
• as a spreadsheet (CSV).

Importing a backup never overwrites anything: existing folders stay as they are, and files are only ever added to folders.

Safe by default

• Filorium only runs in your WordPress dashboard. It adds nothing to the pages your visitors see.
• Who can do what follows your WordPress user roles.
• Deactivating or deleting Filorium keeps your folders, unless you choose otherwise.

Filorium Pro

The free plugin is complete on its own. There are no time limits, no file limits, and nothing locked until you buy a license.

Filorium Pro is a separate paid add-on from filorium.com that adds:

• Collections — tag files with labels and find them from anywhere.
• One file in several folders.
• Copy folders — duplicate a whole folder with everything inside it.
• Folder colors — make important folders stand out.
• Similar & duplicates — find repeated and near-identical images.
• Missing metadata — find files without alt text.
• No known uses — list files nothing seems to use, to help you clear out.
• Used-in panel — see exactly where a file is used.
• Filorium Library — the full Filorium workspace inside the media picker and supported page builders.
• Studio — crop, rotate, resize, compress and watermark images.
• Bulk metadata — write alt text, captions and descriptions for many files at once.
• Rename files in a folder — give a whole folder one numbered name, and update the pages that use them.
• Download as ZIP — download a folder as one ZIP file.
• Unpack ZIP files — unzip straight into folders.

Your data

Filorium never moves your media files. They stay in WordPress’s uploads folder.

What Filorium saves in your WordPress database:

• Your folders and collections.
• A short activity log, so everyone’s screen stays in sync.
• A record of where each file is used.
• Settings and each user’s preferences.

Two small maintenance tasks run once a day to tidy the log and the usage record.

Only Rename, Replace and Empty Trash ever change a file on disk, and each one asks you first. Filorium never touches anything outside the uploads folder.

When you delete the plugin, your folders are kept — unless you turn on Delete everything if the plugin is removed under Settings → Data first.

External services

The free plugin does not connect to any outside service. It has no analytics, no tracking, no license check, and loads no fonts, scripts, styles or images from elsewhere. Everything runs on your own site.

The only outside links are the ones you choose to open from Settings → Filorium Pro, which go to filorium.com.

Filorium Pro is a separate add-on and uses the Qevix Labs license service to activate a license. Its own readme explains the details.
