Amelia Lite is a free appointment booking WordPress plugin that allows to set up a fully-featured automated booking system on your WordPress website and is a handy tool for small businesses and individuals that depend on stable appointment booking processes.

Amelia Lite was built with newest Enterprise-level of technology both on front-end and back-end, ensuring smooth and slick user experience. Amelia elements are applying single-page-app approach, work without page reloading, and all elements were designed with the mobile first concept in mind – so all the admin and customer interfaces are perfectly responsive.

Amelia Lite supports:

  • Configuring the general settings for the company – General Settings
  • A convenient Calendar view on the back-end, giving a full overview on all the appointments and the statuses – Calendar Admin View
  • Flexible Appointment Management page, with an option to add appointments by your staff from the WordPress admin dashboard – Appointments Admin Page
  • Configuring provider’s details and working schedule – General Settings
  • Key numbers in the Dashboard – Dashboard page
  • Email notifications to the customer and provider when the appointment status changes.

Configuring Amelia Lite to book your first appointment through WordPress is literally a 5-minute job.

  • First, you would need to go to your WordPress‘ admin page, open Amelia -> Services and add categories and services, as described here.
  • On the next step, you would need to add a step-by-step booking wizard to one of your posts or pages. To do that, just create a new post or page, or edit an exiting one, and add [ameliabooking] shortcode where you want to add the booking wizard. Save it – and that’s it – now customers can book appointments from your site’s front-end using Amelia Lite!
  • You can customize provider details and schedule in the General Settings page.

Please note some limitations of the Lite version:

  • You can only use a part of the Dashboard page to keep tracks of your business.
  • Export option is not supported.
  • Filters on the pages are not supported.
  • Coupons are not included.
  • Group services are not supported.
  • Adding the Locations is not included.
  • Customization options are not included.
  • You can only use Approved and Pending notifications, other types of email notifications are not supported.
  • Only basic plugin settings are supported.
  • Google Calendar synchronization is not supported.
  • PayPal and Stripe payment types are not supported but you can use On-site payment type.
  • Booking search view and catalog view are not included, only the Step-by-step booking wizard view.
  • Access to our premium support system is not included.

Installation

Installing Amelia Lite is as easy as 1-2-3!

  • First, either locate the plugin through the WordPress‘ built-in plugins browser, upload the ZIP file through WP Admin, or upload the Amelia Lite folder via FTP to your WordPress‘ plugins folder on the server.
  • Activate the plugin in the „Plugins“ page of your WordPress installation.
  • Enjoy!

We use this plugin for one of our customers, who offers several guided tours through the company building and production lines and wants to give visitors the possibility to book these tours online. We needed a plugin that supports different types of bookings, sets timeslots for bookings, allows for multiple users, sends automatic notifications, exports and synchronizes calender entries, etc. Amelia does exactly that - and much more (we use the pro form of the plugin). The huge scope of functions allows you to easily tailor it to whatever you need. And if you discover a potentially useful feature that is not supported already, there is a good chance that the Amelia team will introduce it in a future release, as this plugin constantly evolves. Speaking about the Amelia team... We needed 2 features that were not included already, so I suggested them to the Amelia team, as they would also be useful to others I thought. I got a response within a day and a working solution (in form of an upcoming release including the feature I needed) within a few weeks - and they did that twice. Fantastic support! Please keep up the good work.

I am building websites for small businesses that rely solely on free plugins, and this is a great and easy to use booking plugin. It's incredible for solo players. No limitations to the number of appointments, and my non-technical clients love it! Kudos to the team!

I spent months trying to work with support to get this plugin to work. It looked like exactly what I needed but was unreliable. Sometimes the booking widget would load, sometimes it wouldn't. Sometimes data could pull from my database, sometimes it wouldn't. I was back and forth with support constantly until I had to give up and not invest any more time trying to force it. The final straw for me was when I got an email saying they were now charing for premium support even though I purchased the lifetime support 3 months earlier. I'm so disappointed.

Let me start off by saying I like the aesthetics of this plugin. It's clean and has a simple user interface which I like. I also like the the features currently offered in the plugin. With that being said... at the time of writing this review, this plugin does not allow basic functions such as booking packages. Most companies that sell online bookings will also offer packages for sale. To not have this basic feature as part of your pro plugin is crazy to me. I have read online that this feature is in the plan for a future update but I have read posts that are over a year old asking about this feature and it still has not been implemented. That makes me wonder how long it could be before this important feature is added. Another feature that's missing is an employee as well as customer cabinet that allow employees and customers to view and change appointments on the front end of the website. Right now customers are taken to the WordPress back end which I would not allow for my customers. Very unprofessional looking. Another problem I have is that it's very difficult to find service or category ID numbers. If you're using a builder like Elementor and need to enter the shortcodes manually I haven't found a way to easily locate these ID's.

I have tried several booking tools over the years, but this is absolutely the best I've ever used. Will use no other from now on.
