Who is this plugin for?

For anyone who needs a map on their site in 5 seconds.

Map shows the wrong location

Write the address differently, or more precisely. Make sure you enter the street, town and country name. If necessary enter lat/lng coordinates instead of the address. Use the numeric notation, eg: „40.7127, 74.0059“

How to generate the API key

We understand that creating an API key is frustrating but it takes less than a minute and it’s something Google requires.
Follow wizard step #1 – login with any Gmail account, click next/confirm a few times with the default settings & copy the key you see on the screen; it’s the key you need. Then use wizard step #2, select the same „My Project“ project from the list and that’s it. Save the key in GMW settings.
If you want to protect your API key by using the „Accept requests from these HTTP referrers (web sites)“ option in Google Console make sure to add your domain in these two formats: *.mydomain.com/* and mydomain.com/* and wait a few minutes until Google makes the necessary changes.

Thumbnail map works but lightbox won’t open on click

You probably have Fancybox JS and CSS files included twice; once by the theme and second time by GMW plugin. Remove one instance of files. If that’s not the case then you have a fatal JS error that’s preventing execution of other JS code. Hit F12 in Firefox or Chrome and have a look at the debug console. If there are any red lines – it’s a fatal error.

It’s not working!!! Arrrrrrrrr

Read the support forum rules (no seriously, read them) and then if needed open new a thread.

Rezensionen

Zero Stars – Plugin does not work right and support is bad.

I have never written a review for a WP plugin until now.

Not only did this plugin not work as advertised (where I only wanted the map to come up without showing a thumbnail first…something the plugin says it can do), but the support is bad. Really bad! At first when I had an issue they did reply to me and told me what to do to make it work, but nothing did work for this simple feature. Then, after contacting them several more times trying to solve the issue (I was a full Agency paid user at $80) I was sent this email from their owner…

——

Good morning,
My name is Gordan, I’m the owner of WebFactory.

I’ve read through your emails after the ticket was escalated to me and unfortunately I have to say that we’re not a good fit and that we can’t continue supporting you and having you as our customer. Since you’ve already implemented some maps using GMW I don’t want us to be the reason for spending more time in redoing them. So, I’ve created a new key for you. You can continue to use it if you feel GMW is a good fit for your projects. But, as I’ve said we won’t be able to continue supporting you.

New lifetime agency key: XXXXX

Again, I apologize for the issues you had with setting up GMW.

——

So I guess they don’t like it when you complain that their plugin is not working right and ask for support. They did reimburse me and gave me a free lifetime number, but forget that! Who would want to use a plugin that bans it’s full paid users from support when they ask for help? Yes, I was direct in my emails and did email them quite a bit for help in a 2 day window trying to get this plugin to work, but I was never mean, or rude, or swore at them, but regardless, I got banned.

Do NOT waste your time or money on this plugin as I did.

Easy to use

Very nice app that functions as intended with the clients being able to do a search in just a few clicks

Was not as easy as it appeared to be.

Based on the overview video, it promised to be an easy setup. The plugin part was straight forward. Getting the Google Map API was also okay but when it came to actually getting a map working, it really got confusing. The idea of the widget is fantastic and I appreciated the flexibility but right from the word go, it was pushing for me to upgrade to get all of these features which I did not need. I wanted a simple google map with a pin that a person could click to view full screen in another tab or window. Normally I just embed it direct with a google map embed iframe but I wanted to see if there was an easier way to go. In the end, I went back to adding the google Map manually. In 5 minutes, it was working. There has to be a good plugin to do that sort of thing that does not cost $30.
In closing, maybe it was just me not getting what I had to do even though I am a dev and have been working with WordPress since 2010. Based on the reviews, a lot of people like the plugin and so if you think it may work for you, please don’t let my review put you off. Give it a go and if it does the job well and saves you time, then paying for it is worth it.
